Oshi no Ko Characters

The full cast guide — every key character, their role, abilities, and place in the story.

Oshi no Ko is set in Japan's entertainment industry, and almost everyone in it is performing for someone. At its heart is one family: Ai Hoshino, the star of the idol group B-Komachi, and her secret twins, Aqua and Ruby, who are reborn with the memories of a doctor and his young patient who both adored her. After Ai is killed by a stalker, the twins grow up with Miyako Saitou, who runs the small agency Strawberry Productions, and each finds a way back into show business. Ruby revives B-Komachi with the former child star Kana Arima and the YouTuber MEM-cho. Aqua takes acting jobs, from a TV drama to a reality dating show where he meets the gifted actress Akane Kurokawa, to get close to the people in his mother's past and find their unknown father. Around them are the directors, producers and actors who make the business run, some of whom know more about Ai than they say. This guide covers the three TV seasons, not the manga's later chapters or the live-action adaptations.

Aqua Hoshino

Protagonist

Born Aquamarine Hoshino, Ai's son, who remembers his past life as Gorou Amamiya, the country doctor who was to deliver Ai's twins and was killed shortly before they were born. After Ai is killed when the twins are small, he works out that someone close to her, probably their father, gave her killer the address, and he resolves to find him. He becomes the director Taishi Gotanda's apprentice and returns to acting, using a TV drama, a dating show and the Tokyo Blade play to get close to people from Ai's past. Cool, calculating and still haunted by her death, he is fiercely protective of Ruby, and at the end of season 3 he finally tells her that he was Gorou.
