Guess the Anime Character

One mystery anime character a day. 6 guesses. Each guess reveals clues.

How to Play Guess the Anime Character

Guess the Anime Character is a free daily anime guessing game inspired by Wordle. Every day there is one mystery character to guess, and you have 6tries to identify them. Start by typing any anime character's name into the box — the autocomplete will help you find them. When you submit a guess, the game compares that character to the day's answer across six attributes and colours each one to show how close you are. Your job is to use those clues to guess the anime character before your six guesses run out.

Unlike a multiple-choice anime quiz, this is a deduction game: there are no options handed to you. You bring your own knowledge of anime characters, make a guess, read the feedback, and refine. That is what makes it a proper anime guessing game rather than a trivia test — every guess you make narrows the field a little more.

What the clue colours mean

Each guess returns a row of six coloured tiles, one per attribute: Anime, Gender, Hair colour, Role, Group and Debut year.

  • Green means an exact match — that attribute is identical to the mystery character.
  • Yellow means you are close — for example the group shares a word, or the debut year is within three years.
  • Dark means no match at all for that attribute.

The Debut column also shows an arrow: up means the answer's anime aired later than your guess, down means earlier. Combining the colours with the arrows lets you triangulate the answer fast. If a guess shares the same anime (a green Anime tile), you are usually only a few characters away from solving it.

Which anime characters can you guess?

The answer pool covers 64 of the most iconic, widely recognised characters from 23 popular anime, so the daily character is always fair to guess. Series included are Naruto, One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia, Attack on Titan, Dragon Ball, Bleach, Solo Leveling, Hunter x Hunter, Chainsaw Man, Spy x Family, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Death Note, Frieren, Vinland Saga, Black Clover, Fairy Tail, One Punch Man, Tokyo Ghoul, Tokyo Revengers, Dandadan and Sakamoto Days. That means on any given day you might be trying to guess the One Piece captain Monkey D. Luffy, the Naruto ninja Kakashi Hatake, or the Jujutsu Kaisen sorcerer Satoru Gojo. Because every player worldwide gets the same character each day, you can compare results with friends and see who guessed the anime character in the fewest tries.

Tips to guess the anime character faster

  • Open with a well-connected protagonist from a long-running series — someone like Naruto Uzumaki or Ichigo Kurosaki — so your first guess lights up as many attribute clues as possible.
  • Use the Debut year arrow aggressively. It instantly splits the pool into “older than this” or “newer than this”, removing a large number of candidates in a single move.
  • Watch the Group column. A yellow Group tile is a strong hint that you are in the right franchise or faction even when the Anime tile is dark.
  • Do not waste guesses on characters from anime you have already ruled out. Once an Anime tile is dark, no character from that series can be the answer.
  • When stuck, guess a character whose attributes sit in the middle of what is left rather than a long shot — a middle guess teaches you more.

Guess the Anime Character vs. a normal anime quiz

A traditional anime quiz asks multiple-choice questions and scores your knowledge. This daily anime game flips that: instead of answering questions about a character, you deduce who the character is from a handful of structured clues. Both are fun and reward different skills. If you would rather answer classic trivia, try the full anime quiz with 1,150+ questions, or the 3-clue Daily Quiz where you guess the character from written hints. If you prefer grid puzzles, the daily Anime Connect game asks you to sort sixteen anime terms into four hidden groups. Playing any of them keeps your daily streak alive.

Build a streak and share your result

Solving the daily character extends your streak — a running count of consecutive days you have played. Miss a day and a streak freeze can save it, so one slip does not reset you to zero. When you finish, copy a spoiler-free result grid (a block of green, yellow and dark squares) that shows how you did without revealing the answer — perfect for sharing on social media or in a group chat. A new character to guess unlocks every day at midnight UTC, so there is always a fresh anime guessing game waiting for you tomorrow.
